Re: Rudder for C&C 24

I'm also looking for the plate at the very bottom of the mast in the bilge, I think it is cast iron and I just noticed that mine is cracked and I will need to replace it while the mast is down for winter storage
Lemme know if you have one
Thanks
Nancy

Also as a follow up, is it hard to find parts for these boats and does anyone have some good recommended sources?
Thanks
If you need any parts for a C&C 24, I finally gave up on selling mine and am now parting it out. Mine is an all original 1977 C&C 24. It's sitting in my driveway on a cradle and I am beginning to pull parts off this week. I figured it would sell whole but everyone was too afraid to attempt transporting it themselves. I am not looking forward to cutting up a perfectly good boat but at least all of the parts can help keep other boats in the water.

pirateman54 I had a new rudder made for my C&C 35 mkII by southshore years ago. 3500.00. After seeing your photo I would repair what you have. The reason i say this is getting a new rudder made for a C&C is a trip. The drawings are in canadian maritime mueseum. It takes 3 months and they made mine wrong three times.

RXBOT If you can't effect a repair yourself or get a reasanable repair estimate check price at Ruddercraft, still probably 600-1000 dollars at least. Perhaps a moisture check to see if the rudder is saturated would indicate if a small self repair is all that is needed.

Drumroll30 Phil's Foils in Ottawa is another good place to rebuild your rudder, they quoted me $1200 to rebuild the one on my 1988 30 Mk II which is significantly bigger.

Figur8t Good question. I'm honestly not sure how far it goes down.
