You should have no problems at all in Florida with starting the engine. I am in San Francisco and have never had a problem winter or summer. Modern diesels with higher pressures do not have glow plugs.
There are no specific problems with the T3500 2001 that I know of except for a potentially tight rudder. My boat had the LP gas regulator and solenoid shut off valve (in the LP gas locker) plumbed incorrectly, but if the boat you are looking at had this problem it would have been fixed by now.

Hello. I am new to the list. I am considering buying a Tartan 3500 2001. I have two questions.
1. Are there any problems with the boat that I should know? Both problems to check with the survey but also any other concerns.
2. The engine is a Yanmar 3GM30F. When checking out this engine on the internet, I found out that this engine does not have glow plugs, and several comments were about difficulty starting in cold weather. I have had a problem with starting the Westerbeke in the cold on a prior boat (despite multiple mechanical interventions including a 1/2 rebuild), and this is a concern of mine. I live in Pensacola Florida and may be starting the engine down to 40 or 45 F at the coldest.
