First thing I did was to clean off the spade connector contact; I'll bring the multi-meter down to the boat next time, thanks.
I'm also curious if anyone has had success converting the sender into a direct pressure gauge, as we know that the threads will be the proper size. Being able to the pressure directly should clear up some of the mystery.
I also was surprised that the rag stuck in the oil filter opening wasn't wetter. I had imagined a lot of oil sloshing around inside the valve cover.......?

|JimsCAL||Flickering light could be either low oil pressure or an electrical problem in the idiot light circuit. You need to find out which it is. I would troubleshoot the circuit first.|

oil pressure light M-5411 Universal
I have a flickering oil pressure light. I just did a rebuild a few running hours ago and may have used too much permatex 2 gasket sealant on the cylinder head gasket. Last year I tried to get a direct read gauge (was flickering then too) to replace the pressure sensor, but couldn't find the right size thread adapter for the gauge. The engine isn't running making any valve noise and I'm getting the same running and shutdown cylinder head temps. I'm thinking some of the sealant migrated. I stuck a rag in the oil fill and only found a few spatters of oil after two minutes of running at 2500 RPM.
I know I sound lazy for not wanting to run out and buy a new sender/sensor, but I've had it so far as putting my Mr. so/so Wrench hat on. I guess I'm just asking for any seat of the pants ideas for whether it's just an indication or not...the sender is difficult to reach on my boat. I think that the normal temps is a good sign. Thanks
