chef2sail We attached a thru three way bronze ball valve to the thru hull leading to the raw water pump. When It is time to winterize I attach a hose to the fitting, and down into the antifreeze. I slowly turn over the engine till it draws the antifreeze through the whole system, water pump, strainer, engine, riser, water mufler and out the exhaust port.

Tempest On my old boat, I inserted a radiator hose tee and cap, similar to this. Universal Radiator Hose Tee Flush Kit (47018) on eBay!

They have plungers with a hose fitting that you can attach to the hull at the thru-hull. Once the boat is out of the water, I have one that I've never used.

I do what you did, take the hose off after the strainer and use a large funnel to pour anti-freeze through, seems to work fine.

your favorite way to winterize?

I have a C&C 32 (1981). Last year, we tried opening the raw water filter an pouring antifreeze down the tube. It was a bit messy & made me worried that we werent getting enough into the cooling system. I have seen people use various ways to attach to the thru-hull. If anyone has some insight, I would appreciate it. And, no, sailing down to florida is not an option ;-)
