I am a Canadian planning on going south soon and was wondering if what other Canadians have done to escape the taxman.Non-residency status vs residency status?
Thanks
Pat.
Why not talk to your tax man, get his opinion? They''re usually pleased to be asked and are helpful.
No-one likes paying taxes but we do so in order to live in civilised countries.
Wensum,
I am talking to the taxman but they don''t always give you or ask you the right stuff. It''s good to get opinions from people who have done it. Thanks for the tip.
One important thing to consider in non-residency is medical coverage. Any savings you might hope to receive from the tax man may get eaten up quickly in health care coverage. Before making your decision I''d check with OHIP, if an Ontario resident, or with which ever provincial coverage you now subscribe to see what if any impacts your decision might have.
good luck...
