Customs and Immigration clearance in the Eastern Caribbean

If you are cruising this area be aware that the authorities in some islands are being less lax than they used to be.

St Maarten customs are boarding vessels and checking papers.

Antigua has fined two skippers $5000 ec for letting guests/crew ashore before they were checked in and made at least 2 late check ins go to St Johns to explain to the senior customs officer. I don't know if fines ensued.

Martinique officials are checking the anchorages and matching boat names against printed lists.

Chris Doyle reports that 5 yachts have been detained in St Lucia for customs/immigration irregularities.

Fly the Q flag and jump through those hoops.
