Re: Garmin repairs

A lot of Garmin equipment is built with welded cases, not gasketed ones, for water resistance. If that includes your model, Garmin couldn't repair it unless there are still new cases available. Their procedure is to crack off the old one, toss it, install a new one after repairs.

Any radio/electronics technician can try to open it up and fix it, but they may not have the parts available either, and it may be economically unfeasible to take it to one. If Garmin won't try fixing, they might make you a deal on a trade-up for a new one. Worth asking.

Re: Garmin repairs

Are you sure Garmin won't fix it? They have fixed much older equipment than that of mine. They had a very reasonable, fixed-price, reconditioning fee that will get you back a like new device. You may need to contact them directly and ask about reconditioning.

Garmin repairs

Hi, does anyone know where I can get a Garmin chartplotter repaired? It's nine years old so Garmin will not fix it. It works for 1-2 min and quits. Help! thanks
