Re: Stantion caps

nick, I suspect they are just jammed in place and removing the cap is a matter of chewing or pulling it out.

There's a stainless shop called Tops In Quality located vaguely in Minnesota or thereabouts who might be able to sell you stanchion caps. If they don't carry them, they'll know who does. And I'd suggest buying a bag of them, treat yourself to a little "dress up" of the boat if they're not exhorbitant. (These days, I never know if a 50-cent part will cost $25.)

Re: Stantion caps

I don't want an aliminum cap inserted into a stainless tube. Too many issues with corrosion if I have to take the cap off again. I don't know what holds them in. I can't get the broken cap off (yet). I need to find a long dowell and punch it out from the bottom.

For $35 I can get a new tube from Garhauer with an integral cap. I am just trying to find a plastic cap so it matches the rest of the boat.

Sic Semper Tyrannis I can make them in aluminum or bronze.

What holds them in place?

Stantion caps

I broke one of my plastic stantion caps the other day. I am having a hell of a time trying to find a replacement. They are the black plastic caps, not stainless. I would like to try and avoid replacing the entire stantion since it will not match the rest and I don't feel like spending the money to make them all match. Anyone have any ideas where I can find one for a 1" OD tube?

Here is a pic. My remaining caps are in much better shape, but you get the idea.
