What about for $30,000 or less

We have a 1973 Irwin 37 center cockpit for sale at $32,000. It has tremendous volume for living aboard and is very comfortable and safe to sail. More info-

Why would any one go to " " when your obvious total lack of ethics as evidenced by spamming this forum and violating its rules against commercial posting shows that you are a totally untrustworthy person?

I would seriously look at the Tartan 34''s. A descent one will run you right at your maximum on asking price, but you should be able to get that down a little.

Excellent boats, motors are easy to access for maintenance and they sail really well.

You might also look at the C&C boats along with Islander.

been looking at S2 9.2''s but the closest is still a 6hr drive. I found a mirage 275 for sale and does anyone have any comments on this boat? this will be my first sailboat and are looking for better quality than the hunters and caltalinas.

Denr: I like the mid-80''s Cal. Folks in our marina have a 34 and it''s a nice looking boat. As far as the O''day, for some reason I have an aversion to them, but I can''t tell you specifically why.

As far as launch date, we might be a week or two later if we get a lot of ice in northern Lake Michigan - we''ll see how the winter goes. Sure would like to get some heavy precip in the Superior basin and get the water levels up further for next summer.

You''re all most exactly correct with the 130 days until launch. Do you think you could add maybe a mid 80s Cal or O''Day to your list?

Hat''s off to you for to you for your holiday spirit. I knew a fellow Lake Michigan sailor would have it in him. Hope Santa is good to you and just think, only 130 days or so until launch.

Inasmuch as it is the holiday season and I feel very generous, your last recommendation will stand without criticism or scrutiny. It is possible that a 30 foot boat has a full aft stateroom? This boat must have a lot of free board if this is true.
I do like the other recommendations you made however, nice call.

If you can, I would push the $30k envelope and look at the following: 1983/84 C&C 29, 1983/84 S2 9.2 (cruising version of 9.1), early 1983 Tartan 3000, 1982 Sabre 28. Or (brace yourself Denr), how about a 1986/87 Beneteau First 285 or 1985 First 305? Nah, who would want a lively and liveable boat with good hardware, all veneer interior and a full aft stateroom anyway?
