Bait? Its a violation of marina regulations for it to even be on the dock (not that it matters at THAT marina)!
However, it would be funny as hell if someone heisted it, got it home and found out the guy had put the old motor in the new box, with a note attached "Thanks, and enjoy you new anchor"!

David Mamet makes great con flix. The Heist was great. See Redbelt. He wrote and directed. Great ending!

On Tilghman Island, Chesapeake bay when the watermen get a new engine for their boat, they keep it in the back of their pickup for at least a week before putting it in. I always thought that this was a bragging thing (i.e. I got a new engine na-na-na-na). I now know better Thank you!

My guess is that it's Jimmy Hoffa.

Wow I thought my memory was bad. They swapped the gold out on the jet before offloading it to the false engine in the van. If you remember the van when it crashed the engine container was thrown open and some the the strong boxes thrown to the ground and opened, exposing steel washers . One of my favorite Gene Hackman films.

I think it was nice of them to leave it on a dolly so you can get it out of there way for them.

Mobsters and gangsters don't lock their cars. Maybe if you found out who owns it, leaving it unattended would make more sense. But more than likely its just going to be someone without much savvy, or maybe there was a mix-up in arranging the install.

Apparently they didn't think to add a sticker "Don't leave out the rain"!
