Re: install VHF antenna on Pacific Seacraft 34

You might want to re-post this query in the Pacific Seacraft listserve on Sailnet (Pacific Seacraft - SailNet Community). It is fairly active and has quite a few 34 owners who will probably be able to help you.

Re: install VHF antenna on Pacific Seacraft 34

Knowing the quality of Pacific Seacraft vessels..there should be a cable conduit as well as a previous installed messenger. But my question is for the age of the vessel wasn't there one placed at the top originally? There could be a oem cable still there.. I'd check the bottom of the mast first and also query other PS 34 owners as well

install VHF antenna on Pacific Seacraft 34

Have Pacific Seacraft 34, 1986 and need to install VHF antenna at masthead and run the new cable. I a few questions specific to PS 34.
1) Is there conduit already installed in mast?
2) How is the top plate on mast attached/easiest way to get to conduit?
3) Best method of getting messeger line to bottom of mast.
A) small fishing weight
B) unhook wire from anchor light -attach line and then use it to pull it down mast and attach new wire and then back up mast.
Any other tips from those who have already done the project would be helpful.

Thanks for your input,
