mgiguere Oh, by the way, if you know Peter McAvoy up in Beverly marina, say Hi to him for me. Haven't seen him for a long time...did the initial work on my boat.

Fun Run

Have done it both ways...piece at a time or all at once. The reason to do an overnighter is the sailing only gets good once you hit Boothbay (with the thousands of islands)...up to then it's all beach. Once flew the shute all the way...had to take the sales down for the last 10 miles to wait for day break since we got here too soon.

Now down in the Chesapeake and miss the ocean sailing; although, now I sail year round down here. Can't join you, but enjoy the trip.

trodzen Thanks for all the reply's. Keep them coming. I'm always looking for crew.

BTW, another destination may be added. The Bahamas! I'm considering a return trip down the east coast summer of 2007 and to the Bahamas after hurricane season.

If you want to be added to my short list of possible crew please email me at trodzen at and include a phone number for a call back sometime in the spring or summer. Please include some info about you. ie. your sailing experience (if any), current location, availability, etc.

Slayer I am an eager novice. I live in So. NH and work in Andover, MA. I have good deal of experience in a small laser and hobbie cats, and have decided its time to move up to larger vessels. Just finished the ASA Basic KeelBoat Sailing 101. Spent two days sailing a 26' Island Packet. I am strong and eager, and since I own my own business my schedule is flexible.

I'll PM you my email addresses

If it were me, I'ld probably try to make the trip in one shot. I love passagemaking! If it worked out, I'ld be happy to help you try!

This past August, with two crew I delivered my Peterson 34 from Boothbay Harbor to Marblehead. It took 30 hours. The rhumbline distance is about 101 nautical miles , but our actual sailing distance was about 145 nautical miles. The wind was on our nose the whole way, building to 25 knots with seas approaching 5 feet during the overnight. If we could have waited for a norther, it would have been a lot easier trip. Going the otherway, you've got the prevailing winds in your favor.

Short day hops might be Beverly to Portsmouth (or Isle of Shoals); then to Casco Bay; then to Boothbay or somewhere; then to Rockport? Again, if it worked out, I might be available for one or more of these.

Let me know if you think I can help.

MegConway Hi-
I'd love to crew for one of your day sails. I'm currently in school in Western Mass, and will most likely only be available on weekends.
Please let me know when you'll be heading out!

MA Northshore to Rockport ME Spring 2007

Looking for person(s) interested in taking part in crewing on a 2001 Catalina 320 from Beverly MA to Rockport ME sometime in the spring of 2007.

Hopefully no overnight sails.
The boat is currently on the hard in Beverly MA.
Leaving first good weather in spring.

I have owned the boat for a few years and have sailed caribe, BVI, D.R, bahamas to FL and up the East Coast.

Looking for 1 or couple to join for a day or the whole trip.

Someone local in the Northeast is best as the times and days will be based on Weather.
