pawleys island hello
hey guys, I'm from Pawleys Island SC and I'm going to be buying a sailboat soon. I have spent all my life near the water. I lived in mass where I had the opportunity to see the replicas of the first sail boats that came to america at Plymouth rock. I then moved to SC to Georgetown and learned the about the fishing industry first hand my father was a crabber and sank his boat off the jetties and was rescued by the coast guard. Witch in turn led me to join the Coast Guard and i spent 3 years on the Coast Guard Cutter Dallas sailing from Charleston to the Caribbean and keeping over a Billion dollars worth of cocaine. I was honorably discharged from the coast guard and stayed in charleston for several years where i decided i wanted to learn to sail. So i got some books and started reading about sailing. This led to looking at sailing schools but it cost just as much as a sailing dingy. I picked up a 14.2 capri and took it out for the first sail about a month later my best friend (with zero knowledge of sailing) myself and a friend in a bass boat (who couldn't understand why on earth someone would buy a boat with no motor). well the long and short of it being the mast step was rotted out and after trying to take a turn my boat was capsized and my mast was ripped from the deck. so i quickly righted the boat and has the bass boat pull us back to the dock. we fixed the mast step with help from the people from west marine and sailed it a few more times before i moved to Pawleys and sold the boat with intent to get a bigger boat. well that time is now, iv been looking at a few boats in the 24-31 foot range but most are in Charleston SC an hour and a half away and i have no experience at buying a bigger boats and i would like to know if any one is willing to ether go with me or go look at the boats for me. I could even pay for a lunch or two if you want. thanks a lot i know their is a lot of good info on this site just let me know if you can help or have anything that could help me.
