Good idea to check the batteries first. I have a friend in the UK who sometimes frequents sailboatowners.com who has a Freedom 15 (like ours). Either his charger or inverter function died sometime ago. He hasn't found anyone to be able to repair it. Sorry about the bad news.

maybe check the voltage coming out of the battery. anything below 8 then it may not take a charge

Re: Freedom 2000 inverter/charger problem
The biggest trouble solver could be to try another unit as a test unit and see if you have the same problems.

Freedom 2000 inverter/charger problem
Hi, I'm new to this so Hello! I have a Freedom 2000 inverter charger with a Link 2000R monitor. Older units circa 1992. 2 battery banks and switch left selected to both. In UK so shore power is 230v/50 freq. Units have only ever been on this supply, NOT 120v as in the USA. Til now worked very well but now have a problem I need help with. When the charger function is selected with shore power plugged in, (inverter function OFF) loud 'clicking' noise is heard and my amp load meter swings ON/OFF. rapidly. Selecting charger function OFF and all is well again. Select charger ON and usually within 5 mins load swings ON/OFF again. Fuses etc for the sensing function of the Link checked, all batteries load tested and are OK, so its not a 'Bad Cell' fooling the charger. The batteries are wet cells and the Link is set for this.
Thanks fella's, any clue would be useful, or a trouble shooting guide is there is one around. Regards Barrie (stubby1234)
