Re: broken motor mounts

Thank your favorite diety that you did not wrap a line around your prop. while motoring. This could have had a whole different outcome!

I would also closely examine the exhaust system (elbow, etc.)

Re: broken motor mounts

Here are some pictures, I've replaced the mounts of course. And the vibration is lessened now of course. You know what they say about boiling a frog ... I think the vibration was getting worse slowly over time and I just didnt notice that I was being boiled to death ;-)

I checked out as much as I could (with boat in the water) from the coupling aft. I could not find any damage but I'll be hauling her in a month or so for the final word.

Re: broken motor mounts

I would check just about everything pertaining to the transmission, shaft for true, cutless bearing, strut (if applicable), and of course alignment will have to be adjusted after you do all the prior checks.

Perhaps you could post a picture

broken motor mounts

I'm in the process of swapping my trans for a new one (well, it's new to me anyway). While removing the old trans I discovered that all 4 mounts were broken!

the center bolt sheared on each one. All but one appear to have sheared a while ago (only one had that shiny, just broke, look to it)

I did notice that it was shaking more and more but I didnt put 2 and 2 together.

I checked for cracks and signs of banging around ... the stringers look fine. Is there anything else I should check ... any problems or damage that a loose engine could cause?
