1: Any comments on the wiring? Where did you put the control box. Foot pedal controls, any thoughts on a remote as I will be single handing most of the time?

2. Any issues with the chain stacking and room for chain?

Thanks for your help, Thors pictures have already saved me a ton of time.
Battery Bank on Crazy Fish is under the settee just aft of the bulkhead between the head and the main saloon. 4 T105 fit there after I the shelf installed by PS was removed and a lower one installed.

Cables run there to a switch which is located on the same bulkhead on the far starboard side - back of switch is in the locker behind the head sink. From there they run along the top of the head locker and then above panels in the bunk area in the space created by the hull/deck joint. Cables are 1/0 or larger but I can't remember at the moment.

There is a deck switch mounted a bit aft and a bit to starboard of the windless.

Re: Electric Windlass on PSC 34

The Cayman and Tigres I believe are indentical internally. The Tigres provides the cleat on the top which on a Crealock 34 or 37 is probably not necessary with the anchor cleats that are already provided.

Defender's price on the Cayman is ~$200 less then the Tigres.

I installed the Cayman on Crazy Fish about 15 years ago, have been quite happy with it and can't say I ever missed the cleat provided by the Tigres.

You might also check with Downwind Marine in San Diego and see if they would come up with a better price then Defender.

Re: Electric Windlass on PSC 34

So far the best price was at Binnacle at $2077 but I'm not familiar with that site and they wouldn't specify "new" vs "rebuilt" or whatever. Defender has it new for around $2470 and you know what you are getting.

Thor,
Thanks for the pics, they were perfect for my needs. Sounds like we are on the same track for the anchoring system. I too bought the Manson with 175ft of 5/16 HT and 260ft of rode. The tigres will be the final piece and the remote will be the cherry on top. Thanks for all the help.

Re: Electric Windlass on PSC 34

Had trouble uploading pics so put them on this blog thing. Let me know if there are any others you would like. One primary difference is that my boat is not cutter rigged. Its a sloop with a solent stay. I did try and get you some pictures that you cold spatially relate to your boat. Hopefully of some use.

Re: Electric Windlass on PSC 34

That would be very nice if not to much trouble, thank you. I'm a cutter rig, and one of my concerns was being able to remove the back cover for servicing. It would approximately be just a few inches forward of the deck hardware for the staysail. I've since decided not to make that an issue.

Re: Electric Windlass on PSC 34

Thanks for the replies and pictures. Nice shots of the Muir but I'm going in the direction of a horizontal mount. Thor, its good to hear the Tigres works on the PSC, that's really what I wanted to hear. I also found that a PSC 31 "Cool Change" had fit a Tigres on his boat on the recommendation from the folks at Pacific Seacraft. Lofrans Tigres it is. thanks
