xort Duck as in Duck Island Roads?
We use that as a stop on our migration route east/west LIS. Easy day from/to Port Jefferson.

Agreed! Done both several times and also tied up at the town dock and walked to Bill's. Bill's is a CT shoreline classic - outdoor picnic tables, fried and broiled seafood, etc. Get there early or expect to wait - even on weekdays.

Thanks to all who responded. FYI we are moored in Setauket Harbor on LI which is within Port Jefferson Harbor. If you find yourself in PJ this season contact me via Sailnet

Re: Fishers Island

Fishers Island is pretty and quiet but better is Watch Hill, RI. Great anchorage easy dink to beach...easy stroll to town with some good restaurants. Great ocean beach just across sand spit from anchorage. Long narrow channel with lots of shallow water to get in and out. Easy jump off to Block.

Hey,

If you're looking for a party scene, check out Captains Cove marina in Black Rock Harbor, just west of Bridgeport. The place has bands almost every summer weekend, a nice patio, cheap food and lots of drinks. There are a number of small shops located on the grounds. It's real cheap to stay there and also real easy to get in and out.

Are you looking for dock and dine? There's the Black Duck in Westport. Also the Crab Shell in Stamford, but I wouldn't go there only for the food. Norwalk has an ever expanding bar and restaurant scene with interesting options. Downtown New Haven has also been revitalized with a plenty of new wave eateries, but the city side of the waterfront is still industrial.

Municipalities in CT haven't really keyed into the whole idea of monetizing waterfront with commercial spaces yet. Hopefully they will come around.
