Was going through my pictures, and I thought these might give a bit of perspective to the ICW, west of New Orleans, for those who contemplate using it. It's far more of a "Ditch" than the Eastern half.

Just noticed the Flying Scot under your nick. I went through Nov of 2007. Ending up going up to Lake Arthur, where they were just finishing up a Flying Scot championship.

I've never gone past Lake Pontchartrain and the Rigolets heading west, but I have often thought about making an ICW trip that direction. I have gone down MRGO before, and been amazed at the traffic.

If you start your day on the west side of the Mississippi, past the locks, you can easily hit Houma and then Morgan City in a day's travel. I know people that have anchored between Morgan City and the Mermetau River, but there's no what I would call "good" anchorages. Since I had crew, we left Lake Charles, heading east, and then at nightfall, got behind a barge and followed them through the night (including a lock). From Lake Charles, it's another 3 days to Galveston.
