Dating is so much easier.Everyone involved is aware of the endgame. Seaking a sailing parntner is so much more complicated because sailing is so varied and changing. Some cross over skills may apply but I can't think of any.

Good point. Being kind is my goal, but I do come up short now and then.

My thick skin comment was about the necessity to brace yourself for all kinds of jokes and indignities should you decide to post a personal on this forum, because that is what inevitably happens. Still, compared to indignities of the dating process in general (been there, done that), such experience is a piece of cake.

Sure, some of the threads on this forum are really quite funny, and of course the replies and comments are humorous. High droll...hic. Making fun of poor grammar, spelling oopsies and parts of a boat that don't really exist, is always going to bring about hilarious comments, in any forum/thread.

Funny can be funny as all hell, but it doesn't have to be mean, judgmental or condescending.
.................................................. ............................................

As of this post, I see that this particular forum is titled "Looking For Companionship" No one is trying to make SN a dating site. But the moderators did make this forum available. Perhaps those that don't like it should take up the issue with them. OH wait, the MODS did comment, and say that this kind of post was ok in this forum. Or.... just stick to reading from the MANY, MANY other forums that SN has to offer.

Some people would just like to meet someone that has the same passion and love of the sea. Maybe they want something more than just a 'crew member'. If you can't look for that in a "Looking For Companionship" forum on a sailing site....well, that is just a sad thing.

Granted, on this particular thread the OP disappeared right away. And some of the threads have been posted obviously for humor. HOWEVER, more people might actually use this forum, for real, if they thought there was a chance that they could be taken seriously, without being publically ridiculed.

Except for grammar, spelling, ect.

Re: Want Mature Cook/Crew/Friend Lady

ok so for those of us who are ignorant ...what does CF stand for? Now you have me curious. This is really the only sailing site I visit. Except for a very occasional foray into oday owners group

I got no problem with it. I have no issues with CF, but it is moderated very differently than here. For some that is better, for some worse.

I also have no issue with a forum where sailors can find sailors. I dont see what the big deal is.

Just me I guess.
