I work with a young man who recently returned from Iraq, he showed me yet a different version of this bit of humor, generation after generation, the joke lives on.

It's funny, but I'm pretty sure it's not real. The last British ship named Britannia was the HMY Britannia, the Queen's royal yacht. It was decommissioned a year before this conversation allegedly took place. The last British naval ship by that name was sunk by a U-Boat in 1918.
