I referenced this video many times before lowering my mast. It is not too difficult and can be done with two people although a 3rd probably would not hurt. The A-frame made out of 2x4 is stable and works well, just be sure to secure the feet to the deck and have all lines taught.

Check on the International Catalina 27 - 270 Association web site. There are plans and materials list for a mast raising/lowering rig made from common 2 X 4 lumber. (making one myself for this years launch)

knothead Check out Bruce Binghams "The Sailors Sketchbook". He gives a pretty good description of a mast lowering system.

donlofland I keep going back to this web site over and over about this Catalina 27 refit:

On it is this link to where he got his hinged mast step, which I hope to order soon...

He used the M30 model.

mast raising C27

Can anyone tell me where to find info on building or buying parts to add mast raising capability to my 1986 C 27. I have access to alum. and s.s. welding and machine shop.
