I'm trying to think of an East Coast marina that wouldn't be in a hurricane flood area.

In all likelihood, your insurance company took a serious loss on Sandy and is limiting or potentially exiting the business. There are often those that fill the void. Shop around.

Keep in mind that insurance is regulated by State. Your experience with a carrier in your state could be entirely different from the same carrier in another.

Melts around 1,200 and turns soft much lower even steel would have suffered all kinds of buckling and other stuff

I guess now we know that that's a big NO!

That's scary, a fire has to burn hot to burn aluminum. It must have been an inferno.

From what I have been told: It started behind the electrical panel. The crew used their fire extinguishers and then Rescue 1 arrived but couldnt get the extinguishers to penetrate behind the panel. By the smoke forced everyone out.

No water available to fight the fire... Coast Guard do have a pump but its been broken for a while.

Heat, fuel and oxygen

Odds are electrical. It's always electrical (or at least 65% of the time)
