A friend of mine who works at a Marina on the C&D Canal just sent me a few pics of this cruising down the C&D Canal.

that is very cool.. but why do they let the props hang half out of the water? They would be more efficent if they were not thrashing the water like that

The Arneson Surface Drives are among the most efficient marine propulsion systems in the world. Their surface-piercing propeller design reduces underwater drag by 50% compared to conventional submerged propeller drive systems.

Anybody know where this thing is headed?

That thing is hideous, really, really, really ugly, but it is neat in high tech sort of way, but extremely ugly. Oh and since the winds are actually created in part by convection due to solar heating...is it not then true that any sail boat is a solar powered boat, and if it sails without an engine it is a totally solar powered boat?

And any sailboat would look better than that hideous thing.

They better not sail that thing near Pax River NAS or they may find jet jockeys trying to land on it. :D

I have seen worse looking "Yachts". At least this serves a purpose other than showing how the owners aspire to be the next Donald Trump
