Re: P26 combination mast/deck light

Just a quick followup.. I forgot about this thread and figured I'd finish the story.

I did install the Hella combination light, and DID use the marinebeam LED replacement bulbs. AWESOME! The deck light is incredibly bright, bathes the entire foredeck in a very attractive cool white, and draws so much less current than the stock bulbs.

Yay! Highly recommend those marinebeam bulbs. I'm going to order some G4 replacement LEDs for my interior fixtures from them soon.

Best to all..

Re: P26 combination mast/deck light

I ran a single ground and two hot leads to my light. I figured that I really would not be needing both at the same time. I can always change that if I want. I like the idea of the LED.

Barry,
Yes I forgot that part...I had to make up the connections on mine too. I used spade terminals instead of soldering. Works fine but like you said.... Come on...really? They should complete the damn thing for us!

I might go for it... not sure yet.

It seems that the deck light bulb is exposed, without a lens to protect it. Can a LED light being what it is, be that exposed?

Re: P26 combination mast/deck light

It was easy to install...drill and pop rivets.

Re: P26 combination mast/deck light

I just installed this Hella Marine brand combo light on my P26. The deck light is very bright. I think it is a 20 watt halogen bulb...hot and power hungry, but BRIGHT!

Re: P26 combination mast/deck light

Thank you for the replies. Between the ForeSpar, the AAA, the Aqua Signal, and the Hella I found with your help, it seems as if the Hella is the only one getting pretty much universally good reviews. Folks have mentioned the poor attachment of the upper cover on the ForeSpar and the lack of weather protections on the AquaSignal and AAA, so I've ordered a Hella.

I realize that none are LED lights as they come from the factory, and I understand and appreciate the comment re/ the fact that the bow/steaming light will only be used when the engine's running anyway. My P26 has an outboard 8hp Johnson that I'm in the process of renovating and I don't know for sure that the charging circuit works on it, so I want to be prepared. A $15 LED bulb is a lot cheaper than the replacement parts necessary to get the charging circuit to work. Eventually, of course, I'll get EVERYTHING working as it should. Right now, I just want to get out and learn to sail.

Thanks again!

Re: P26 combination mast/deck light

I've read some reviews on the forespar lights and they weren't very favorable. I just mounted one of these but I haven't been to my boat yet in the dark to see how well they perform. They appear well made though. Available in black and white.
