Need help getting S2 8.0A from Stevensville MD to Washington NC
Looking for help to get my 1976 S2 8.0A from Stev. to Wash. NC.
Or just help getting Norfolk area to ICW . Anyone need to go south. I'm open for suggestions.
My sailing friends here at home are bailing on me. I feel I would need help from Stevensville to Norfolk. most of the rest of the trip can be motored by way of dismal swamp and the other cut through canals. I'm just not comfortable with the Chesapeake Bay Area.
S2 is 26' and has a mercury 9.9 hp four stroke off the back. Has roller furling. tiller,
drafts 2'6" with center board up and about 5' down. I might have to wimp out on sailing and just motor it back home.
I have never sailed before, I'm just crazy and now have two sailboats.
the one in picture I bought in November and almost have it ready to splash.I have done asll the work on her myself. The one I bought in Stevensville caught my eye and dumb me bought it. Thought it would be a blast to sail it back home with some friends that know how to sail and I could learn a little sailing on the way. Just want to be safe in my travels to Washington NC.
I can't be of any use to you, but wanted to wish you good luck. I'm in almost exactly the same "boat" you are. Bought a Pearson 26 back in November, found a TON of stuff that was wrong with it and needed fixing before floating it (much less sailing it) and have been working on it off and on ever since. My only sailing experience is about 8 times on a Sunfish. I'm trying to find somebody to help me get it from where it is to where it needs to be, too.... an approximately 80nm trip - Lake Ontario then the canal system from Oswego, NY to Oneida Lake. Should be fun... good luck!
Barry, hope all goes well when you make that trip.
We are now planning on leaving Kent Island,
Stevensville MD on Tue morning, first stop hopefully will be Solomon's if all goes well
