Re: Recoil Starter Rope Options

Just be careful when dealing with the spring as it can jump out and poke your eye out and i am serious about that

While a manual would be better it is very much like a lawnmower other than a more modern one make a neutral lockout device

Absolutely. The marine store will be much more expensive and probably break sooner.

Recoil Starter Rope Options

New sailer here so forgive my ignorance...

The recoil starter rope broke when I attempted to start my Johnson outboard yesterday. There was just enough left where I could start the engine and get out of the marina to sail so the day wasn't a bust. Regardless, I want to fix it.

I've looked online and it definitely seems fairly easy to replace but was wondering is there any difference in the ones sold at a hardware store for a lawnmower v. one at a marine store? Thanks!
