Re: Boom Line Set Up?

one thing to remember with sailing.. "when in doubt, let out" Meaning if the wind seems too much; release good luck!

Re: Boom Line Set Up?

Thank you again Denise. We spent yesterday going down to a Tall Ships Festival in the Port of Cleveland and had a great 4th of July. That video is very cool.

I appreciate all the help everyone has sent in. Now I've got my work cut out for me this weekend doing the finishing touches before our maiden voyage.

Denise is right on: that little book helped me make sense of the missing rigging on my Rhodes.

Thanks for that Denise. Good to know.

Everybody have a happy 4th.

Best version of the Star Spangled Banner I've ever heard of :
Pull up YouTube and type in "Madison Rising Star Spangled Banner".

Re: Boom Line Set Up?

to sail with main only you would move the mast forward. It changes "center of effort"

Re: Boom Line Set Up?

One other puzzle, there are two locations for the mast to mount in the floor of the boat. One is about 10" behind the other one. What is the reason for this? Are you supposed to use one if you are not using the Jib?

Re: Boom Line Set Up?

Ted, notice in the picture attached that it looks like they are running the main sheet onto the aft end of the keel and then in the middle there appears to be two cam cleats which I'm guessing are for the jib lines. Does that make sense? Or, am I better off putting them on the side rails of the boat in front of or behind the pulley's (Which it shows in the picture you reference.) In that picture it just doesn't show where the lines go from the pulley's.

Denise, those diagrams will help immensely with figuring the proper hardware for what's missing on mine. I'll have to study all of that information.

Thanks so much for the great information.
