happens mostly when halyard is not tight you will need to undue the warp by turning the drum until the warp is clear. the halyard retainer is use to increase the angle of the halyard to the swivel. should be at 15 degrees. if you use a shorter head sail it should have a wire or rope pennant so the swivel will be at the same height

My furler eliminates that problem by eliminating the halyrd swive,l for a block on the side of the extrusion. You hoist the sail, tie the end of the halyard to the drum, take the rope tail off, and tighten the luff with a downhaul on the drum . The halyad block and all rotate with the furlr. A friend, working for a rigger, said a lot of people were doing that with commercially made furlers .

Schaefer snapfurl 500 got jammed up the otheer day made some adjustments on the lower drm and then today it all just went terminal..wouldn't roll out or in fully on returning to berth it was clear there was a. Halyard wrap up above understand likely remedy is a halyard retainer but any suggestions on approach to freeing it up prior to necessary changes?
