That makes me feel a lot better about my own boat handling.

Re: Here is someone who seriously don't care

It turns out it was even worse.
After the Cypruss Cement had wrecked the marina and a number of boats, and could have seriously injured a number of people, they sailed on...
No radio calls, no phone calls, just steamed out to the next destination.
Norwegian police and cost guard, brought the ship to stop and the captain and crew were questioned.

Terrible!

It also seems that all proffesionals that know the area, agree that a lot could have been done differently in the situation by the captain, to avoid this disaster. The tug boat was just hired for support, and must as such only do exactly what the captain tells it to do.

My guess... they were drunk :-(

typical power boater, when in doubt give it all the power you got. just another day on the water with power boaters running into stuff.

Oh, they knew. You can see a man walking around on deck surveying the damage. Looks like The tug pushed a little too hard while the ship was in reverse.

Re: Here is someone who seriously don't care

Someone aboard had to know the damage the ship was causing. It seems the damage it did was far more than if the ship just stayed put until some tugs could have maneuvered it off.

There had to be something wrong with the tug that was there but the pilot should have at least been able to radio for help. Powering through the docks and the boats tied to it should have been a last resort.

Re: Here is someone who seriously don't care

I'd say there was nothing the freighter captain could have done, or maybe the pilot. They did try to power out of it obviously but that tug clearly wasn't helping. My guess would be they were trying to turn the ship around and lost the plot.

I haven't been able to find out why the tug boat didn't do anyting, but one article mentions something about propulsion problems, which must have been on the tug-boat.
No propulsion problem to see on big ship...

The ship is owned by a shipping company from my hometown, and I am quite sure that they will pay for the damages. They are known to be a reputable company.
