Re: how to adjust jib leads on toe rail

i could use the tracks with a smaller jib. However, I sail with a 135 and using the tracks the jib would interfere with the shrouds and I cant trim the headsail properly.

To inside? Do you mean too far forward or far back? How are they too inside?

The above drawing doesnt work. I have tracks installed there and they are too "inside" for the size jib I fly (135). I have had to remove the jib sheet from the track and attach to a snap block on the toe rail.

I've actually been working on this exact problem because my 28' S2 works exactly the same way.
What I am making is a U-bolt in a piece of G10 made to slide along the toe rail and lock into the notches. The sliding surface will be teflon. The trick is making it "universal" for various types of toe rails. Not sure when it will be available for sale thru Gulf marine Technologies.

I use snatch blocks on the toe rail. This is a pain to adjust. I was in strong winds yesterday and really needed to adjust these block back further but there is no easy way to do this while the sail is under load.

Any one in a similar situation who got more creative and solved this issue?
Take a short piece of 3/8" line, tie a rolling hitch around the sheet fwd of your block, and tie the line to your toe-rail with a slipped cow-hitch. Ease your sheet at the winch which will transfer the sheet load to the temporary tether and relocate your block. Slip the cow-hitch and you're done. The foregoing takes more time to describe than to do.

I have been heading upwind and adjusting. Was hoping there was some magical piece of hardware. A barber hauler may be an option.

Head up to relieve the pressure on the sheet, adjust, head back down. Or if there are a few of you onboard, you can step on the sheet ahead of the block whilst someone moves it depending on how heavy the wind is.

You could always use a barber hauler.
