great boat, excellent quality. As tracy put it, depending on age and history, you will have the normal breakage for the year boat you buy, but the Moody is as solid boat as you will find.

Definitely can spoil you.

Re: Input Sought on a Moody 376

We owned and sailed our 1986 moody 37 (same as the 376 but without the swim platform and 2 portholes in aft cabin) in the bahamas. It was 10ish years old and it took a while for the break-age rate to go from one item per day to 1 item per week-or-two which i would consider normal in a boat that age and probably has more to do with previous owner than the boat itself.)

In general we loved the boat - our boat had a few british parts (if i recall we had to replace the whole speed sensor because parts were not availble , and the on-deck plug for the hand held search light had no match in the USA). Oh and ours had a centerboad - don't get that option! Parts are impossible.

Storage space is fantastic, engine access very good, handles well, never a safety concern.

Input Sought on a Moody 376

We are in the market for a 37-40 1980's vintage sailboat. The Moody 376 appeared on our radar screen as a possibility. We like the aft cabin and reputed solid construction.

The boat will be used in the Great Lakes of the US, which is large and unpredictable body of water. Most of our use will be 3-5 hour day sails, but we do plan a few longer trips in the 100-200 mile round trip range.

Are there any owners or sailors with experience of any kind with this boat?
