Re: Survey about Propane Burner/Oven Range

My current boat came with a Force 10 4 burner. I an happy with it and would buy another.

Having said that it is not perfect. The auto sparker is not reliable. But any hardware store can supply a manual jobbie for $3. The grill is to small it only manages to toast half a slice at a time.

But the oven is excellent as are the top burners. It is easy to clean.

I've not heard of Force Ten having lousy customer service but if you can also replace the potholders to the latest version then I'd agree with Denise. While non stainless stoves obviously have a limited life span, stainless does at least last and have you seen how much new Force Tens cost ?

Re: Survey about Propane Burner/Oven Range

Mark, would you believe the "glass opening door thing" was a feature that had never been used (other than for bread storage) for my boat's the first 15 seasons? And the couple who owned it cruised and lived aboard with no BBQ for the last 5 summers. Guess they liked scrambled eggs and pasta.

I can't remember what my stove is (it's ok but nothing special, so it's probably not worth recommending).

Re: Survey about Propane Burner/Oven Range

Previous boat had a Force Ten. Pretty good. Griller (broiler) inside oven so doesn't take up as much space though the ceramic element is way fragile and hopelessly unprotected. Love the fold away oven door. Wish we had gone for three not two burner. Pot holders are rubbish. Eight years old or thereabouts. Still going strong.

Current boat has Smev. No grill. Shame. Other than that not bad. Ten years old, been half way around the world and still works fine.

Re: Survey about Propane Burner/Oven Range

We put a new Dickinson Mediterranean three burner range/oven in the boat a couple of years ago. Very happy with it, and the customer service we got with some initial issues (ours was one of the first off the production line, they replaced the first one with a new one that had several improvements made). The burners put out a lot more btu than most other stoves and one of them is huge (great for heating a big pot of water for pasta). I would definitely recommend it.

A second shout out for Eno. The two burner + Oven one is what I've got experience with. Works like a charm!

Re: Survey about Propane Burner/Oven Range

I have a Mariner Princess (made by Dickenson) 2-burner propane stove / oven on my boat, and it works great. It's original to tbe boat - circa 1981 - but it still works like a charm. The oven heats fairly evenly, but will only get up to about 350 degrees. There's a broiler feature, also, which comes in handy for crisping the tops of pizzas and cheesey garlic toast.

Hmmmmmm....broiled cheesey toast......

Re: Survey about Propane Burner/Oven Range

2 burner without the grill. (Beware the 3 burner may not be a larger stove so you need to fit 3 tiny pots instead of 2 normal size pots)

Its the direct replacement for the one I had before but it had a grill which was rusted out. The grill takes up valuable oven space.

Ensure you get the battery operated ignition. So much easier than matches or lighters on a boat.

Mine is 3 years old.
