Re: Cushion replacement

He is letting me get it made by a guy I found. I believe he may have thought it was one of the larger cushions that got lost. I still feel bad that it happened.

Re: Cushion replacement

I would agree with those above that it should run about $300. If this fellow insists on his $1000 job, I would recommend that you have him contact his insurer. After all, isn't that why he carries it?

Re: Cushion replacement

For you, I'd go slow and charge $100 an hour
Paying someone $300 to make a simple cushion just seems mad to me, but whatever.

Re: Cushion replacement

you should open a shop and I will give all my business if you are that fast and cheap. if you can make a cushion that fast then it should only take you about 6 hours to do a whole boat. why would a shop employee move that fast?

Re: Cushion replacement

Having made the entire interior for a boat previously, there is no way that it takes anything close to 6 hours to do that. About five minutes to cut the foam, fifteen minutes to measure/cut the fabric and maybe half an hour to sew it. It's not a difficult shape.

think about it. buy the foam and fabric, cut the custom foam shape, cut all the fabric to size, sew the seems. add the zipper. stuff the foam in the cushion. what do you think it will take 47 minutes? it is about a 6 hour job so they are making $50 an hour and they have all the tools. would you work for $50 an hour on a custom project?

Re: Cushion replacement

Any upholstery shop can take care of you. Some years ago, I had an auto upholster make some for me.
