Looking nice but I hope you never get any serious moisture in there.. Have you ever seen that MDF swell up after a soaking??? Not to mention the weight...

Yea, seems to me that the quarter birth would be more useful than under cockpit seat locker. I normally don't really like the "California" style galley (think that is what they are called) but on the 27 there is only so much room so it looks like a good compromise. Does not look like it would make the galley much better to use when out, and that is the biggest complaint most have of the galleys that go down one side. I think it really depends on how much time you plan on spending down below. For me it would be less the galley but more if you want a dinette or settee between the two factory layouts.

That was quick, went from should I move the galley to finished in one day!

Finished galley... Mostly. Still have to add trim. Will upload pix when I have time.

Good point about the through hulls. Guess I'll leave the location as is.

From the layout drawings below it looks like the aft galley model must have cockpit accessible storage only on the port side, no quarterberth.

I suspect most of the structure will be based on liners.. you'll need to move/fill through-hull fittings, I think it would be a big job but ultimately do-able. But if this isn't your 'keeper' boat I'd worry about eventual resale.

Q regarding aft port side galley

I am in the process of redoing my galley and am considering moving it to the port aft area. It is currently located forward, across from the dinette and butted up against the port side closet.

By moving my galley aft, it would really open up the interior. But for one issue. By putting the galley near the companion way stairs, I would lose access to the port berth (I currently use it for storage) under the port cockpit seat.

So, I am wondering for those who have the aft galley. How do you access that storage space? Does that become lost space? Or do you access it from the cockpit... Where the small storage compartment under the port lazzarette goes all the way down to the port area behind the galley?

Input is appreciated. Pics would be even better.
