Julie, I have no doubt that he did indeed!

firstCandC: It was ~8.5 hrs dock to dock. I'm am actually in Whortonsville ~2.5 hrs beyond Oriental.

We stayed at the town dock in New Bern and had fun exploring the town. The highlight of our stay was the New Bern Ghost Tour. BTW forecast for that day was 70% chance of rain! But to their credit, NOAA got the wind strength and direction spot on.

Great video, and thanks for posting your route! Nice boat, too!
About how long did it take to get to New Bern?

Nice video. The Neuse at its finest, not in "washing machine mode". We sail out of Clubfoot Cr so may see you out there. Dan S/V Marian Claire

Nice work - gotta love downwind with a poled out jib. Your son may be interetsed in (arguably) the best GoPro tutorials by 'MicBergsma' on youtube - he's a very cool deaf guy who demonstrates, gesticulates and generally gets his message across. cheers.

Sailing to New Bern

My youngest son and I took a weekendtrip to New Bern NC, to celebrate his last weekend of summer before school started back (junior in HS). New Bern is about 40 nm each way. We had NE winds when we left SW on our return giving us a nice ride and not a single tack the entire weekend.

My son recently bought a GoPro Hero ... he did a great job of editing and scoring the video, check it out:

My kids don't have a passion for sailing like I do, but they tolerate it. I cherish these times with them.
