And ive found apps that it for the uk, texas, the gulf... None for the northeast or just for all over.

Salt water fishing app

It's a good idea, the only one that comes to mind and isn't exactly what you want is the "seafood watch" from the Monterey bay aquarium.

With respect to ciguatera, you'd be dependent on locals plotting/referencing known reefs that are unsafe. In this case, I've always been told to stick to smaller reef fish, or go for pelagics.

Right... But thats not an app and doesnt tell me which ones are good for eating or poisonus and so on.

For most fishing it is more about size limits and count; that is the size (or length) of your fish.
The only illegal species of fish for catching that comes to mind in our local waters is the Sturgeon which are apparently still alive in the Hudson river and some species of sharks: Saltwater Fishing Regulations - Recreational - NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation

Your state may likely have different limits and/or a license.

So a lot of you guys LIVE in and off of the water, is there an android app for what fish are edible and legal/illigal to catch and eat?
