Re: Learning to Share

Thanks Donna. I'm still fairly new to Sailnet, and just didn't want to run afoul of the rules, while trying to get some feedback on this and other like companies.

I appreciate the clarification!

Best regards,
Chris

Ok. Well. Just FYI:

Promotions: The site is supported by advertising. If representatives of companies post once just to promote their business and also do not contribute to the forum or help sailing members with information, that isn't supporting the site.

Trash posts: SailNet isn't the place to land fly-by grievances as we state in the rules when you register. If you are a participating member and have a legitimate gripe with supporting information and you are not just a once and done poster saying "This company is crap" and leaving, that's acceptable.

Re: Learning to Share

Moderators have at times pulled postings where specific companies are either promoted or trashed.

I just saw the recent post to this "older" thread, and thought it would be useful to have some updated input here....on this thread which, as the title implies, has to do with fractional sharing. But I'll be happy to start a new thread in General, once I have some more info to post.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this comment but in any event, there have been threads started on timeshare-like sailboat ownership schemes. If you'd like to start another, you should begin your own thread in the General Sailing Discussion forum.

Re: Learning to Share

This article was originally posted in 2007. Several Sailtime franchises have opened since, so they must be fairly popular. I just became a member, but have yet to sail (still waiting to get their required ASA 103 done). Be great to get some current feedback.

If the moderator won't allow specific comments on the Sailtime program, perhaps some feedback regarding the concept of fractional membership/ownership programs. I'll provide some myself, once I get started. For those of us that don't have the time or money to own a medium size coastal cruiser, this program sounds good....on paper anyway!

roy89 We investigated yacht sharing in San Diego and in the end opted for a club membership as the costs were too high. I'm sure as more opt for "timeshare" the prices will eventually come down, just like in the single engine aircraft market.
