sailingdog Also, it depends on how they are cleaning the hull. If they are scraping, then even with a hard paint, you may be shortening the life of it... if they are just brushing or scrubbing, depending on the "grit" of the pad or brush bristle, it may or may not be damaging the paint.

SailorMitch Depends on the paint you used (ablative or hard) and how much growth of gunk you have where you keep your boat. LA harbor is big so no doubt there will be quite a bit of variation in what grows where. If an ablative paint, monthly cleaning probably is too much, and probably won't be necessary. If a hard paint, monthly cleaning should be fine.

awsomeadventure Painted mine last October, with Velux Ultra... Just had it cleaned for first time a week ago. Should wait 4-5 months after painting. Then there after once a month.

How often should I have my bottom cleaned

I am having my sailboat's bottom painted this weekend and I have it cleaned every month, will cleaning it every month diminish the life of the paint?
The boat is located in Los Angeles Harbor. Thanks for any response.
