You mean something your insurance company will be interested in when deciding rate and allowed use?

I think they already have a Lloyds rating.

What do you call a horse designed by committee ..... a camel.
ABYC Committees may number ten but CE is 24 languages and literally hundreds of committee members made up of French thinking bureaucrats.
This may be all true. Who knows?

In the mean time, European production brands now dominate the global market - and those boats are sailing all over the world in all kinds of conditions. So they have definitely done something right despite the bureaucracy....and HatchGate.

The proof is always in the product. Period.

It's good to see the US catching up again.

Taking pride in meeting European standards is about as relevant as any other criteria. You should see how they used to specify cucumber and banana dimensions. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/12/wo...1299.html?_r=0 now there is innovation in trade protectionism.

I don't really understand all the the CE posts on this s thread. Even though my boat rated it had nothing to do with me getting it.

It's kind of like the CNG stove on my Hunter. Great idea at the time - safer gas - but absolutely NOWHERE to get CNG now that the world moved to propane. Bummer.

Thanks a lot for innovating Hunter.

Re: Why are there so many Hunter haters?

Recognizing that Hunter (and Beneteau/Jenneau/macgregor) figured out how to build and market a value priced boat is not bashing. They serve a useful purpose in introducing people to boating, and employ many in building, cleaning and fixing them, just as with time share condos. Thousands of them get sold. A few are no doubt even sailed regularly, in challenging weather. Recognizing that the open concept high freeboard design is better suited to partying in the slip rather than sailing in seas is also not bashing. They are designed for their market.
