Very nice story GOB. Sounds strangely similar to mine, so I can relate. Fair winds and following seas!

Great boat and even better life story GOB. Makes me want to write mine up someday. It would be different but similar in that boats have until recently lurked in the background. But for now too many projects and too much sailing to do (even in December in CHS). Thanks for sharing...

Great write ups! I love my Compac 16, however, I wouldn't consider it being a cruiser. It would be like overnighting in a coffin. I also considered moving up to the Compac 23, but having a family of 5 just doesn't work on a CP23. I will be selling my CP16 this spring as it doesn't even work as a day sailer for my family anymore. They are great little boats, great design, but just too small or our needs. They trailer really nicely though!

Thanks for the feedback and sharing your boat choices.

I am really looking at the 16-footers as primarily daysailers
w/ a cuddly cabin/portapotti - that I can easily trailer.

That said I really like both the Star Wind and Laguna Wind Rose 22's.

If anyone is heading to the Chesapeake bay this Spring-Summer - let me know!!

Dave
