Join the BAHA-HA-HA in October, starting from Portland in August. Upgrading until then and having fun on the Columbia River.

Re: New Years Resolutions: Sailing-Related Goals for 2014

Last year I set a goal to finally charter in the Caribbean. Looks like it's going to happen in May this year, at least deposits are made and tickets bought.
I would also like to make a decision about what to do about the cosmetics of my boat. It really looks scruffy, but why spend thousands to make a seven thousand dollar boat look pretty?
And finally, find a cheap cello I can take aboard and practice while sailing.

Perfect short-handed docking. Actually, I'll settle for doing it without sweaty palms and a racing heart.

Actually, it's a big learning year for me. New boat and only half a sailing season with her so far. So much to learn this year....

Re: New Years Resolutions: Sailing-Related Goals for 2014

SMART ?

I go sailing to get away from all the BS managerial, double speak, flow charts, clichés and above all goals.

S. I don't like a specific destination I go where the wind blows.

M. I don't care If I go 5 miles or 50 as long as I enjoy it.

A. Some times I just stay put and enjoy the location. Biggest achievement finding dinner.

R. Reality bites. I sail to dream and get away from it.

T. Time sucks, There is never enough. All to soon I have to return and go back to work.

A Lazy days sailing.

Continue to learn.
Somehow shorten the maintenance/to-do list to get ready for longer trips.
SOLO to Cape Lookout.
SOLO to Ocracoke.
Teach the Admiral as much as I can.
More overnights on the boat.
Get a dinghy so that nut dog of ours can enjoy long trips.

I would use that one, except I'm pretty sure that I can use that one for any time period, past or future.

Mine was to go frostbiting. Ticked off that box yesterday. Guess I've got the "realistic" part of SMART well in hand.
