|werebeagle||But it's worth the looks sacrifice for a few years. Gotta love it. You spend a couple of years getting them to walk and talk, and then the rest of your life getting them to sit down and shut up.|

He's so cute....I look at that photo above and see I need to close (provisionally) my transom...and need netting around....damn...that's ugly...

So I guess the moral of this story is:
A traveller with no balls should just stay home?

SD...I have to give them credit here....the block's breaking load is 7937lbs!!!!
Its broken....I don't think even American Fiber would resist that....

|sailingdog||That's what you get for using cheap French Carbon Fiber for the boom on your boat...|

By the way, after inspection of other parts..the Main block is also shot!!!! Its a Lewmar 2990 1801, breaking load is 7937lbs!!!...Its gone...just shows the power of the impact...no wonder it broke...
The traveller is off now for inspection....seems ok...
It was a high load block...
Some balls disappeared...

|sailingdog||I do... hmmm.. I don't see anything there that looks like it'd be a stress point for the break. Did Fred carve his name into the boom???|

|Giulietta||SD..go to page one, look at the photos.. see about 2 feet in front of the crack, on the bottom of the boom, there's the end loop of a dyneema cable that holds the block. Can you see it, the blue cable that loops around the bottom??|

Where did the boom snap in relation to the inner outhaul block? Was that where it failed?
