True very true

Specially when we're out sailing

werebeagle But it's worth the looks sacrifice for a few years. Gotta love it. You spend a couple of years getting them to walk and talk, and then the rest of your life getting them to sit down and shut up.

ehehehehehehe I guess so......

That was funny.....but a traveler with no balls can be a woman....

Funny..very funny...

I am watching my kids play...the 1 year old started walking....he is trying to break everything in the living room....

He's so cute....I look at that photo above and see I need to close (provisionally) my transom...and need netting around....damn...that's ugly...

Giulietta SD...I have to give them credit here....the block's breaking load is 7937lbs!!!!

Its broken....I don't think even American Fiber would resist that....
03-28-2007 04:58 PM
sailingdog That's what you get for using cheap French Carbon Fiber for the boom on your boat...
03-28-2007 04:50 PM
Giulietta By the way, after inspection of other parts..the Main block is also shot!!!! Its a Lewmar 2990 1801, breaking load is 7937lbs!!!...Its gone...just shows the power of the impact...no wonder it broke...

The traveller is off now for inspection....seems ok...

It was a high load block...

Some balls disappeared...

sailingdog I do... hmmm.. I don't see anything there that looks like it'd be a stress point for the break. Did Fred carve his name into the boom???
03-26-2007 09:54 PM
Giulietta SD..go to page one, look at the photos.. see about 2 feet in front of the crack, on the bottom of the boom, there's the end loop of a dyneema cable that holds the block. Can you see it, the blue cable that loops around the bottom??

sailingdog Giu-

Where did the boom snap in relation to the inner outhaul block? Was that where it failed?
