Two Batteries

Great idea. After having one battery fail and hand cranking our Honda 50 my wife insisted on two batteries. I added a rotary battery switch from Boaters World with Off,1,1/2,2. Much less to worry about. See MacGregor Sailors Pages mods for a picture of the battery tray I just installed last night. Holds both batteries, no problem.

Additional Battery for Max 26X

1. Do you really need another battery?

I have sailed my Mac26C for two week trip'S to the local lakes for the past 5 years. With only one battery. (I have a small 9.9 hp 4 stroke that seems to keep the battery topped off). I run gps, depth sounder, and vhg radio off of it along with limited cabin lights.

2. If you really do need a second battery and/or want to make any major modifications to the electrical system. I highly recommend:

Nigel Calder's Boatowner's Mechanical and Electricl Manual: How to Maintain, Repain, and Improve Your Boat's Esential Systems
(Mine is Second Edition), there may be a new one out by now.

ISBN 0-07-009618-X (1996)

Enjoy the boat:

Ed Warren.

Additional battery for Mac 26X

Hi,

I have recently purchased a MAC 26X 2000, I want to add a VHF & GPS Plotter, as well as shore power, anyone got any advice or good books so I can get some additional info.
I have a Yam 50hp 4 stroke with the battery fitted into the console.
