Can't say about OZ, sometimes it takes a while for things to go across the seas, in either direction.
The first time someone complained about the lights...after a couple of hours they opened the door and asked "What's wrong, why are all the lights so dim and yellow?" referring to the tungsten bulbs that hadn't changed a wit. So much for tungsten being "warm", so's candlelight and campfires, but that isn't what we grew up with.
AFAIK the cold cathode lamps suffer mostly from being a "sliver" of bright light. That unconventional form factor has made them the champs of scanners and not much else, but even there they usually run a 5V or 12V converter to supply the higher lamp tube voltage. They're available (new) cheaply from surplus electronics parts houses in the US, something like $5-10 for a 12" tube and electronics to operate it, in white or colors. Certainly looks like it would adapt to a boat without problems--aside from needing to regulate the 12V boat supply, I suppose.

|PBzeer||At the risk of sounding entirely too logical and simple, what makes a boat homey to me is setting it up just how you want it, just for yourself, without regard for tradition, superstition, or contrary opinions.|

|Alden68||Pirate I'm amazed you have room on the bulkheads for photos with the manacles and that "wheel" taking up so much room.......|

|66luders||Where should the line be drawn on knick knacks? Things like pictures, shells and ornaments can make things home like but then they can be a nuisance. who has picture frames on bulkheads?|
