Sandblasting alternative?

I have my cast iron keel all stripped down to the bare metal. But, of course it is rust covered. Has anyone had any experience removing the rust other than with sandblasting? I''m preparing to fair and paint the keel and need to properly prep the bare metal for epoxy primer.

If you are down to metal and rust, I would try Ospho which is a phospohic acid based product that I used to use to restore cars. Wear protective glasses, gloves and clothes and use a wire brush but if the rust isn''t too bad you will end up with a clean (bluish black) surface.
