thanks

Thanks to all for the great suggestions, I'll get a copy of the GOB article and look to that mast supplier for something that will work. Thanks again.

Mast Collar Repair

Has anyone had any experience replacing or repairing a mast collar? I own an Irwin 40 and had the mast pulled when transporting the boat accross county. I noticed that the collar is made out of steel and is rusted away on one side. The deck core material around the collar is plywood and is partially delaminated but not rotten. I'm comfortable doing an epoxy repair to the plywood surrounding the collar but need some advise or information on getting a replacement for the collar itself. Irwin recently put up a new web site but they don't have any info or parts for mast collars for older boats. I also tried determining who made the mast but have had no luck. Irwin Yachts may have made it themselves as they did make a good deal of their own components. I'll call them next week to see if they have any old parts laying around. I may have to have one fabricated but would like to avoid the high cost if possible.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Phil.
