Re: 2014 Sailing Season

Monday will be 70F degrees. Yes it's going to rain, and yes I have work, but I'm still going sailing after work.

Re: 2014 Sailing Season

We are heading out over the weekend, not just posing (talking) about it

Warm clothes layers are the order of the day. We both have good warm Ugs to wear in the cockpit. A good propane heater connected to our outside tents with proper ventilation should allow us to keep the cabin comfortable while we are awake coupled with some great Lightweight LLBean down comforters for sleeping.

We aren't ready to give up for the season yet and figure there's still a warmer spell to follow this cold snap. Course I have a habit of waiting one weekend too long before taking off the sails and pulling Haleakulas winter covers on. Usually doing it in an ice storm

Saturday highs 44... Sunday 52. Dark at 4:30, or as the late great carlin said ....dark tonight..continued darkness till scattered light tomorrow dawn.

Re: 2014 Sailing Season

With the winds we had last night, I would have expected white caps in the toilet, and by this morning you should have been peeing ice icicles.

Glad I winterized the boat last week. It's still in the water, but scheduled to be pulled sometime this week.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone,

Re: 2014 Sailing Season

Heading to the boat tonight to run the engine a little before it hits the teens by morning. Stayed aboard last night and enjoyed the gale winds from the protection of the slip, white caps in the basin! LOL

This weekend I really hope get out for a overnight! fingers crossed

Re: 2014 Sailing Season

Watch it be grossly hot on Thanksgiving. Nothing like packing 20 people into a house where the oven and the stove top burners have been blazing away full tilt for hours on a 75 degree day. Plus it just doesn't feel very Thanksgivingy. Give me a high of 40-ish on TG and save the 60+ degree days for the following Friday thru Sunday and I'm happy!

We never got above 28 degrees here today - damned I hate winter!

I believe I saw a forecast for the upper 60's early next week.

28F this morning.

I'm in denial. I absolutely refuse to admit that this is the end, already.
This is a passing front, and there are some useable days still remaining before New Year's.

Today will be better sailing weather, but I have been attacked the the most rapid, vicious cold I've ever had. This weekend is "maintenance day" at the club, so I'll be doing that.

I've also been nominated to represent the Big Boat sailors on the board, at the club.
That great to hear that you are getting involved on the Board to help improve your club as well as encourage other sailors.

Lots of people talk a good game, say they are too busy to help yada yada. Yet we see them out all the time .

It's great that you really encourage others and pay it forward with your efforts in your club and with the racing. Hopefully we get to meet next year.
