We planned to stay on the boat at night, just 12 to 14 hours of sailing during the day. Wanted showers and RRoom though. Hotel prices are out of sight in SD duing the summer. I saw the Island Palms Marina on the web. It looked fairly nice and had good daily slip rates. We''re not heading out, just want to see the Bay the first few times we go to SD. Never have sailed it before. Thought someone might know the area and could pass on some info. Thanks All

Are you going stay on the boat, camp or hotel? Mission Bay or SD Bay?

There''s a pretty nice boat launch on Shelter Island. I don''t know of any ramps at any marinas here though. Also "secure" parking can be hard to find. You might also want to check Mission Bay, I know there''s a few launch ramps there too. Most marinas are pretty full this time of year but the weather is great! Have fun!

P.S. This site: has lots of good info on the area

We plan on trailering our boat to San Diego, we''re in Phoenix, for a long week-end of sailing. Does anyone know of a good marina that we can tie up at, that has a launch ramp, showers, and most of all, secure parking? We would be gone most of the day, with our valuables, we''re just worried about returning to an empty parking lot. Any help?
