Yup, I know. (Another thing I have to address. She's got a Danforth on board, and I think it's properly-sized, but, from casual observation, I'm guessing there's just enough chain and line to make the anchor & rode meet the requirement for having a functional anchor on board--for racing purposes.) Get a good anchor and a nice long anchor rode... find a nice deep spot with good holding.. anchor out for an afternoon while you fiddle with the transducer.

It has non-optional sounder support, but, depending on the package you buy, it comes with either a transom-mounted sonar, or, as in my case, you have to buy the transducer separately. I did buy the dual-frequency in-hull transducer, but that comes with quite an involved installation procedure. (Part of which involves going out somewhere on the lake that's at least 30' deep and staying put. I'm a stickler for details on this kind of thing, so I'm going to follow the recommended installation/alignment procedure.) That's why it's not in yet.

Because we just bought the boat the Saturday before, sailed her home Sunday and Monday. Decompressed Tuesday. (Tho I did go back, checked her over, and straightened-away a few odds-and-ends Tuesday.) Worked Wednesday thru Friday. Sailed Saturday. It rained Sunday. Now it's today.

The sonar transducer installation is rather involved. I hope to get to it before the season is out, however.

As to why I don't go out and do it during the week... Well, I get off work at 17:00. It's at least 17:45 by the time I get home. Then dinner. It's an hour drive to the boat during light traffic. God only knows what that drive'd be like during the tail end of rush hour. So, with a little luck, I might get to the boat by, oh, 19:30 or so. That would give me maybe an hour, hour-and-a-half of daylight, tops. So sailing and working on her pretty much is a weekend and vacation/holiday day kind of a thing.

She's doing the docking atm because, in all honesty, she's far better at it than I, and that's a fact. Even on our sailing classes, which started out with marina maneuvers and docking, with a 34' boat with a wheel, she did better than I in the docking exercises. It is I who needs to practice.
